Amanda Bible Williams on Inspiring Daily Engagement with God’s Word
When we think about health sharing, it’s easy to assume that these ministries only focus on physical health. But one of the most exciting things about the WeShare community is getting to share all the ways we lift up each other’s holistic wellness, including your spiritual well being. Amanda Bible Williams, co-founder of She Reads Truth, is on the WeShare Podcast to help us see how reading the Bible can elevate our spiritual wellness and to give us tips as we lean into this spiritual practice as part of our overall health journey.
BM: How do you personally incorporate Scripture reading into your daily life?
ABW: Currently, it is grabbing the time when I can. I tend to leave my Bible on the ottoman of the chair where I will sit and do schoolwork… and so I find if I leave those things out, I am more prone to just take when time arrives to take it and sit. And to just remember, this Word is true even if it’s not open at the moment and I’m not actively reading it. Which is both—it motivates me to open it and read it, and it also comforts me that the Holy Spirit is working in me and through His Word even as I’m carrying it in my heart throughout the day.
BM: What advice would you give to listeners who feel that God is calling them to step out in faith and pursue something new?
ABW: When I think of the big things in my life that have been big steps of faith, they actually… have been a series of small steps of obedience in faith. And so God in His kindness I think—sometimes He will say I need you to leap or there will be something that you just know is His will. But for me more often, He has us by the hand and we are taking one step at a time. It’s “the Word is a lamp unto our feet.” We can see the next step, but not necessarily what is many paces ahead of us. And so that’s the way, with She Reads Truth, it wasn’t this big lightbulb moment that “this is God’s calling on us as individuals.” It was continuing to just try to be faithful to what He was asking of us.
