The S.M.A.R.T. and A.I.D.D. Care Programs provide additional sharing for those faced with major life-threatening illnesses or unexpected accidents.
S.M.A.R.T. CARE
Planning for the Unexpected
The S.M.A.R.T. Care Program provides additional sharing for those faced with major life-threatening illnesses such as Stroke, Heart Attack, Aggressive Cancer, Renal (Kidney) Failure, and major Organ Transplants. In the event of these medical conditions, the S.M.A.R.T. Care program will share for extra medical and out-of-pocket expenses related to the illness, including childcare, paycheck protection, and other essentials; even mortgage and rent.
With S.M.A.R.T. Care by UHSM, there are no upfront application fees, and sharing can begin 30 days after an initial diagnosis—to share expenses as fast as possible. It helps members lessen the financial burden commonly caused by the unexpected costs of a serious illness through support with bills such as mortgage, rent, utilities, plus 10+ more related expenses. Plus, your spouse and dependents are partially eligible for sharing without any additional contributions.
100% Eligible to Share
If diagnosed or being treated for a qualifying illness, you will be eligible to access 100% of your selected share amount, up to $50,000.
Share Related Expenses
S.M.A.R.T. Care helps support related expenses such as mortgage, rent, childcare, paycheck protection, auto payment, insurance (auto, health, home), utilities, mental / family counseling, emergency transportation, extended care, and afterlife.
Use Any Doctor or Hospital
While we encourage you to leverage the negotiated rates with the PHCS® PPO network for medical services, S.M.A.R.T. Care is available for qualifying illnesses regardless of the care provider seen.
No App Fees + Member Support

S.M.A.R.T. Care
Provides additional sharing for those faced with major life-threatening illnesses such as stroke, heart attack, aggressive cancer, renal (kidney) failure, and major organ transplants. A.I.D.D. Care
Shares associated costs for qualifying accidents, including any unmet AMCS amounts with core UHSM health share programs. Eligible services include costs for immediate care obtained following the accident (within 48 hours of accident), as well as ongoing care commonly obtained within 30 days of the qualifying accident. Medical services include but are not limited to transportation, ambulance services, emergency room and urgent care visits, anesthesia, labs, radiology, specialized therapy treatments, surgery, hospitalizations, prescriptions and in-home recovery care. In the unfortunate event you experience the loss of a limb, the program also shares costs for prosthetics or home modifications if needed. In the most serious accident cases, resulting in death, remaining funds would be distributed to the primary or designated beneficiary.
